This is a heavy yarn, but I love the result.

Beautiful color and beautiful workmanship. Is that a roving yarn? I use Patons Classic Wool Roving yarn and it looks the same as yours. It knits up fast and is very nice to work with. I have made a few pairs of slippers from that yarn. You are getting me very interested in the color purple. :)

Mark, (Smile) at the comment that I am getting you very interested in purple. Not sure about the roving part, but It's Ella Rae Mega and it's Super Bulky. I knit the ribbing on 11's and the stockinette body on 15's. Thank you for the compliments. I must try the Roving, I haven't as of yet. This is fast also. (I'm laughing as I'm about to tell you this) I have more of the same in a different shade of ..............PURPLE! LOL

I really have to say that purple has snuck up on me quietly and secretly and is slowly becoming this color that I truly love. I don't know when this surreptitious transition began to happen, but began to become aware of it last year. It's on the walls of my home, it's the linen on my bed, it's in many of the items around my home, it's the yarn I purchase and in many articles of clothing I own. I think I can safely say it's a staple now. (Smile)

I actually had a lot of fun figuring this project out. I'm very happy with the outcome. I don't get to do a lot of items for the holiday's, but this one has become a special one, now that it's becoming a ritual. I love to see the recipient wearing them! :-)

The size of the needles and knitting wool and the gauge and stitch pattern really make for a striking garment.

The colour purple reminds me of the poem by Jenny Joseph "When I am an old women I shall wear purple". It makes me smile and brings back good memories.

Striking.... Thank You... I like that! I'd never heard of that poem before, but looked it up immediately after you mentioned it and it's a wonderful, funny, thoughtful piece. I like the way she speaks of getting older as of having more freedom to be more of herself and now being restricted be obligations and the conforms of society and those around her, but also how she wisely thinks, "But maybe I ought to practice a little now?"

Bill, Purple corduroy shirt, that sounds awesome! Definitely the neck tie.... This particular sweater is for someone else, though the one in my profile was for me. Given your love of color, I'd love to see what you'd come up with!
