Southeast Men's Knitting Retreat-Registration is open

Hey Ya’ll,
A hearty southern greeting to the male knitters of the Southeast! I think I finally am beginning to figure this whole thing out so....It’s time to start planning the Southeast Men’s Knitting Retreat 2013 !!!
We have changed the date to coincide with SAFF, the Southern Animal Fiber Fair. Our Retreat will be October 24-27. The Fiber Fair is October 25-27. We will be spending the 25th at the Fair and carpooling to get there. We also have several possible classes in mind for this year including (but not limited to): Drop Spindle Spinning and 2 color Brioche knitting. I’ve confirmed this weekend with Sarah at Asbury Hills and they are very excited to have us. We will either be in Creekside and/ or Batson depending on the number of attendees. I would like to increase our numbers this year as there is room for up to 28 attendees in Batson & Creekside combined. There are a very limited number of private rooms available on a first come first served basis. I also need a show of hand/commitment before I can make a deposit on the Reservation.
Thursday, October 24 (1 pm-ish)-Sunday, October 27 (1 pm-ish)
Here’s the fee/price breakdown per person:
$198.00 - housing for 2 day/3 nights (Thurs dinner-Sun lunch includes 9 meals & LINENS!!!)
Add $50 for private room.
$40 - Admin Fee (this compensates me for my planning and execution time)
$40 - Printing/Supplies Fees/Badges/Thank you cards/postage/phone
$5- Teaching Stipend (To help teachers with their costs and time)
$15 - PayPal Fees (this is now 4% of the total cost and is charged when you transfer money via PayPal)
$298.00(sharing)($348.00 private room) GRAND TOTAL (I also rounded up on paypal fees and to whole dollar to cover 2 transfers: you to me then me to Retreat center)
Check-In Time is 1 pm-ish (10/24), Check-Out Time is 1 pm-ish (10/27).
I must have at least 8 sign up and pay to book reservation (for 1 building), then at least 12 more for the second building. Private rooms will go fast and sharing is economical and appreciated. I have contacted the center about overflow and there are cabins available for us if the two buildings we used last year fill up. Since you would be sharing a common sleep area with multiple roomies the rate would be reduced to $165.00 (plus additional fees, $265.00 total).
There will be ABSOLUTELY no refunds, once we reach the 30 Day mark (10/08)

I have given Asbury Hills our request for reservation but we don’t officially have the reservation until I make the deposit. I’ll be signing the contract within the next 60 days. I need to be able to book the reservation soon so no one else books the spot. The sooner you can reserve and make your payment, the sooner I can sign the contract. If you’re interested in going, please let me know on this forum and I’ll send you an invoice via PayPal.
May I get a show of “hands” from those of you interested in attending this year?
I look forward to seeing all your faces for this year’s retreat! Please share this with anyone I’ve overlooked or that you think would like to join us. Thanks, Ya’ll !!!

Private rooms are now all taken. Depending on numbers, there is a possibility for more private rooms.

I wish we could go! Dani and I just got back from the MFKR in Federal Way, Washington where we got married! Woohoo! Hope to see you all in the SE sometime soon. Thanks to all our Knitting Brothers for the words of support! Let us know if we can do anything to help you from here. We can send some yarn for a raffle for scholarship fund or a knitted item, whatever.
