About Dang Time (another cross post, but it has actual knitting news so I had to share!)

That I got this thing done.

That's right, I got all the knitting on the Brooklyn Tweed Autumn Leaves Stole finally wrapped up last night.

And the ends woven in.

It was quite late by then so I waited until this morning to block it.

You can see the stitches opened right up for me.

I have to say, though it was long and tedious, it was a great pattern.

Spinning my own yarn may have added to the tediousness, and since it was smaller than the recommended Shelter, I had to drop needle size to 6 to get good stitch definition.

It came out to be about 24 inches wide and 66 inches long. It will be a great winter wrap for my Mom.

I am considering putting it in the fair though. What do you think?

I am now down to one remaining project on the needles! Well, two but one is a simple baby hat that just needs a crown finished off which is maybe 30minutes of work so it doesn't really count. I cast it on when we went to see a movie so I could work on it during the flick. I got the ribbing, body, and first couple crown shaping rounds done during it the movie but never got back to it. Now  I may actually get those socks done. Don't hold your breath, but I am going to attempt to finish them up before the Tour de Fleece starts so I can wear them to the retreat and focus my energies on spinning.

Currently I have a beautiful baby camel and silk blend on the wheel. Well, since one bobbin is done and the other not started I guess it's not technically "on" the wheel but you know what I mean.

Alas, let's not forget, every day is made a little brighter with some cute canine silliness.

Am I right?

The stitch definition came out wonderfully. In my humble opinion, defiantly fair worthy. Hope your Mother enjoys it.

Now that's a Happy Dog!

Yes he is. Now I need to get back to work and quit posting over and over again here. You guys are going to get tired of me If you aren't already.

Never tired of your post. Keep'm flowing.

You did a fantastic job. Your own spun yarn ? Nice, very nice.

AKQGuy's picture

Yep. That is why I am sick of orange for the time being. This was my first 3ply.

I'm always happy to see Sullivan!
...( and the stole is beautiful!)

AKQGuy's picture

I know you do Sir. I had you in mind when I added that silly dogs pic. Now I need to shower and go walk said silly dog and his siblings.

Bill's picture

... the pictures with the bone were dark, I ran them through photoshop, so I could see him better. (grin)

Great job, Q. That came out so lovely and I am so glad you stuck to it. And the gratuitous shot of Sully having a fun run only adds to the joy. Congrats.

Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Wow! That is quite beautiful. While you may be tired of the orange, I think it is a perfect color for that wrap. Your work is always so meticulously done. It's a pleasure to see it. Gotta love Sully's tongue hanging out as he romps about. It kind of looks like me if I have one too many drinks. I am anxious to see your work in person at the retreat. Will you be bringing this piece with you?

AKQGuy's picture

Yes! Getting it done to bring for show and tell was one of my goals for it. I try to never drink that much anymore. I have waking up wondering who I have to apologize to. Thank you for the compliments.

CLABBERS's picture

The drinking tongue was a reference to my college years. These days, I couldn't tell you the last time I had a drink...wait a minute...yes, I can. When I spent two weeks with my 85-year-old mother in FL helping her rehab back surgery. That was enough to drive anyone to drink. Still, it was just the odd glass of wine with dinner.

beautiful i love the lace. i think all men should have one lace article. whether stole or a pair of underwear! I love your dog. so much love and energy in that face!

AKQGuy's picture

I love knitting lace but don't actually own any... Hmm, might need to fix that, but I prefer to wear cables. As for the kid, yeah he's adorkable.
