Wendy's DVD Real Men Knit is out! You can buy it and see more than one of the guys on this site! I'm the one on the bottom row in the yellow sweater. :)
I just looked in the chat room & was verbally abused by one of our members, this is not the kind of thing that I expect from our group.
I used a vintage 60s pattern for sizing and shaping of this "boat-neck" sweater, but added the ribbing and tri-color from a contemporary French pattern. It fits perfectly and is a Plymouth Encore wool blend. My only regret is not having used a "better" wool yarn for the project. Hope you like it.
Amazon.com introduced a new function this morning. It allows you to create your own personal store.
I've created one called "Scratch and Stitch" which features knitting books of interest to men. I've added a few that have been mentioned on MenWhoKnit.com as well as some that I've found useful.
Does anyone have the DVD by Knittinghelp.com? I am always searching for new ways to up-skill my knitting. We don't have any knitting classes here and the selection of knitting books is poor. I thought that this DVD might be useful. Any comments or suggestions for other DVD's?
PS...this is the hat, it's pretty cool and very easy! I love it!
Now, I know that I can probably find this online in 6.5 seconds, and I just might as soon as I am done posting this entry. However, the hat that I just finished instructs me to "single crochet" around the edge in a contrasting color...now I have the contrasting color, and UPS is bringing me a big box of knitting supplies (and crochet hooks) this afternoon...but can anyone tell me (or direct me towards an priceless resource that can tell me) how I might go about this "single crochet"? Clearly I am a crochet virgin! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!
I made a promise to my kids' grade 3 teacher that I would spin and knit her something if she gave me some fleece. She came through and I've started the process. Go to jigraknits.livejournal.com for photos.
Hey guys. I am interested in making a moebius scarf. I pattern says to mpebius cast on. How the heck do you do that. By the way, the pattern came from the Menknit mag. It is a pattern by Witt Pratt. It looks nice but I have no idea how to cast on for this. The info I've found on the net makes it sound confusing.
By all accounts, I'm rather new at knitting. When I was a senior in college I threw out my back and couldn't move for a week. My roommate at the time was knitting and I asked her to show me. That fall I made a couple one color scarves for my niece.
Now I want to make one for myself but need a lot of help. I want to do a checkered pattern alternating purl and knit stitch with orange yarn and navy yarn. eg: the scarf if 28 stitches wide, I'd want 14 purl orange, then 14 knit navy for 10 rows to make a squre of orange and a square of navy. Then I'd change the color to alternate.
