While knitting the torso of my sweater, I needed something to break up the monotony of that, so I decided to make some slippers. They are Saturday Morning Slippers by Kristin Spurkland from her book the Knitting Man(ual). I'll get one slipper done tonight, just five more rows of twisted garter stitch for the ankle cuff.
This is the second Old Forge that I make, and it is as much fun as the first one. It is a great pattern and blocks easy. It is about 64 inches blocked.
This is a pair of socks that I finished a couple of days ago. Before I started knitting the socks, I was looking at the yarn and couldn't make up my mind if I really liked it or not. I didn't buy the yarn, if was given to me. After completing a few inches on the sock, I came to the conclusion that I did like it. I guess it just took seeing how the color combination worked up in the fabric.
Earlier Peter Mark asked if anyone had the pattern for the Warm Thoughts Throw he wanted to finish. I emailed the good folks at Patons, now Yarnspirations.com and inquired about it. It's an old pattern book from 1997, which is now out of print. They no longer carry it, but they were lovely and sent me the entire book of patterns.
My niece has asked me to do her a sweater, and I have tons of Bolivian alpaca in my stash. The yarn was supposed to be for a different project, but my friend in La Paz got the wrong weight. Now I am left with 900g of 2-3 fingering/sport weight yarn. Pattern calls for a US 8 needle and a gauge of 17 sts & 22 rows = 4" x 4". My gauge swatch worked up to 3" x 3" with 2 yarns stranded.
Hello guys! My son has requested a pair of slippers from The Knitting Man(ual). He wants neon orange, or at the least very bright orange. I want to make them for him in 100% wool, without spending an arm and a leg. I can find plenty of acrylic neon orange yarn. I found some yarn that is close to 100%, but not in the neon/bright colors.
Here's another pair that I finished yesterday, then washed and blocked them. The colors remind me of a shirt I had in the mid to late 80's of Alexander Julian.
Hi. It's been awhile since I've posted anything. I've been knitting more lately since this Minnesota weather turned brutally and bitterly cold. The weather inspired me to take up my needles and finish a hat. Yesterday I cast off the top of this striped black and dark grey stocking hat.
