Here it is! Finally! I knit this back in October (at least) and I just sewed up the shoulder seams on Sunday and put the buttons on tonight. This will be one of only two knitted Christmas gifts I was able to manage this year (the other is a pair of gloves for my boss). The BSJ will be for Michael's neice. His sister and her husband are planning on having more children, so I'm looking forward to the opportunity to make another, and another, and maybe another.
Elizabeth Zimmermann is freaking brilliant! It seemed like everyone here had made a BSJ, and I was intrigued. I was also looking to just READ more of EZ's works so I bought a few more of her books to add to my collection including one with this pattern. It was fascinating to watch how this develops on the needles and how it magically turns into the jacket.
The yarn I used all leftovers from previous projects. The bulk of the BSJ is Alpaca With A Twist and the stripes are various leftovers that I don't quite remember the brand of. No matter though. They all seem to work together quite nicely!
