Baby Surprise Jacket #1

OK. I think this is about the coolest project ever. The design is just brilliant.

There are a couple of things I'll change for my next one, but I'm pretty happy with this. All that is left is sewing on buttons!

Beautiful! You said you used Noro sock yarn...what size needles did you use, and what size infant or toddler will that fit? Beautiful job. I've seen quite a few of these lately and each one is awesome.

The official name of the pattern is Baby Surprise Jacket by Elizabeth Zimmermann.

You can find it here: http://www.schoolhousepress.com/newbooks.htm

It's a pricey pattern, but worth the money. It is also included in several of her books, but the new version of the pattern is much easier to follow.

I noticed the sleeve striping matches...is that because of EZ's ingenious design, or did you have to go to that spot in the balls of yarn?

The stripes match because of the design. I never broke the yarn from beginning to end. It's like magic. Seriously, when you knit this, you have to go on blind faith, because 2/3 of the way through, I still had no idea how it was going to become a jacket.

Yea - I used Noro Silk Garden Sock yarn. I love the way it striped without having to change colours (in honor of Eli).

I'm hooked on the pattern - luckily, one more friend is pregnant, so I have an excuse to start another one!

Nice work! I love that pattern too.

Very nice knitting. Is it in Noro? Not that it matters but I like the way the colors gradually changed. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
