Kimono Shawl

So here I am vacationing in Taos and what do I do - block a shawl. I finished it on the drive up here and couldn't wait to get home to block it. It took almost six weeks to finish as that my knitting time was greatly diminished this past month. In spring the garden calls my attention as does my family. Anyway here is the Kimono shawl form Cheryl Oberle's "Folk Shawls". The yarn is Silky Wool by Elsebeth Lavold in the color Columbine - I think. This is fast becoming my favorite lace yarn. It blocks beautifully, is very reasonably priced and easy to work with.
This was a really fun shawl to do and the result has inspired me to start on another one asap. I think I'll be doing some yarn shoping in Taos. Speaking of, I stopped in a La Lana yesteday and picked up a lovely skein of handspun in a yellow orange color way. I wish I could have afforded more but as $26. as skein all I get to do is a hat. Better then nothing. If you're ever in Taos, La Lana is a must visit yarn store.

Enjoy the pics.

A lovely piece of lace,

A lovely piece of lace, Scott. You could always use it like the prayer scarf I bought in NY...wear it as a neckwarmer, then draping it over my shoulders when needing to ward off chilly drafts. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Thanks everyone for the

Thanks everyone for the kudos - any compliment coming from you guys means a lot. And Joe, I'm sure you would look smashing in this shawl. Lace is truly addicing and blocking is the really fun part. My partner loves it when I block stuff - it amazes him, he thinks its some kind of magic.

I'm looking at a slightly more complex pattern for my next one but first a few hats and some socks to clense my pallet.

All things came together

All things came together beautifully in this garment. The stitch pattern is perfect for the yarn, the color is rich and bright at the same time and your knitting is exquisite. I wonder if I could get away with wearing this shawl?

Great Scott! I am being

Great Scott! I am being seduced to the yarn-over, make one side. And I was saving myself for a long-term textile relationship. Stand away, Hell Beast! Oh, maybe a quickie shawl will be enough? Yathink?
