I didn't think that I would end up this busy all at once.

...anyway...here is what I sent to Kyle.

I have to say, I don't know

I have to say, I don't know what a Gansey is!! I know I could just Google it, but I want someone to tell me. ;-)

A 'gansey' is the familiar

A 'gansey' is the familiar name for a fisherman's sweater from the island of Geurnsey in the Channel Islands.

Really, very nice squares,

Really, very nice squares, the stitches suit that beautiful blue. Good choice and well done.

I love blue! ...dark blue,

I love blue!

...dark blue, especially. It's my favorite colour.

...next to white and/or black (either or both) and gray (or silver depending on the source of the colour) -- the things that remind me of being right at the ocean.

...but I can also feel good about making something with blues mingled with brown and green just the same...a reminder of islands off the coast!

The colours make me feel good and happy and peaceful all the while I'm making whatever...and so, especially for this project, I certainly hope that those energies carried through and that Jason feels that good feeling and peace and serenity and love.

Very nice. I especially

Very nice. I especially like the diamonds. But, then, I've always liked purl brocade. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Ever since I made my first

Ever since I made my first gansey, I've loved doing the knit-and-purl designs. One of my favorite books is Gladys Thompson's Geurnsey book, where she went over to Scotland and literally panhandled peoples sweaters just to chart out the knit-and-purl designs.

Between that and the Barbara Walker books, I think I'll have enough knit-and-purl ideas -- especially to build on -- for a good long time.
