My Novice Project...

KnitsWithBalls's picture

So Gentleman you are looking at one of the three newest Aspirants for Sisterhood here in San Francisco...That's right I'm joining the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, and I'm rather excited to start my training...

When I become Novice I have to throw my own event, and I wanted to run this idea past you...

I want to have a silent auction/fashion show where we are going to auction off shawls/throws (for widowers) of all weights and fibers. and everything that doesn't get sold I want to give to the cancer wings of the hospitals here in the city and all the money raised is going to go to Aids Life Cycle....

your thoughts on this?

This is just a rough draft of what I want to do I'm sure there will be burlesque and alot more entertainment to boot lol

if anyone is interested in knitting please let me know :-) Its not going to be for around 7 or more months still so plenty of time if you are liking the idea

I had never heard of them

I had never heard of them before. Interesting web-site and idea. (I apologize if this is an improper question) Have you chosen a name, yet? Or is a name assigned to you?

Back to proper knitting questions: would you post a (novice level, of course) pattern with possible material choices and colors?
(If I choose the colors and materials, they'll be odd and kind of work together and probably be synthetic.)

Never knitted anything that big, yet.

I'm bouncing between a a few

I'm bouncing between a a few names I'm really liking Sister Flura Fauna Maryweather, Sister Tasha Salad, or Sister Katrina Kathrine Kartia (Sister KKK for short )

I will make a larger post about this later in a few days but in general its what ever fiber and gauge you want...and you can use any pattern you find or just make one up :-)

All I ask is that these are going to be sold off and im happy with all materials but red heart...nothing AGAINST IT and if you anyone uses it as their yarn of choice then rock it out... I just wanted to make sure that the shawls that we are giving away and selling and comfortable and can be snuggled up in

I think EVERYONE should have

I think EVERYONE should have a drag name! But even saying that, I have no idea what mine would be. Of the three you listed for yourself, I liked Sister Tasha Salad best, however... I started looking at the websites of other orders seeing what other names were chosen to try and get some ideas to help you, and in the Portland Order, there was already a Sister Tasha Salad. And I say "was" because she is in the Nuns of the Above section. You can see here... http://www.portlandsisters.net/sisters.html.

What's your ancestry? Maybe you could play off of that. For example, if you were part Hawaiian or Polynesian you could be Sister Kamanawanalaya. :)

I tried to think of a knitting related name, but I haven't thought of any yet that wouldn't require some existing knowledge of knitting for people to get. Sister Purl Bumps. Sister DeePee Needles. Etc...

At any rate, I'm sure you'll come up with a FABOO name, and GOOD LUCK with the Sisterhood!!
