Scarf Finished!!!

...and on its way to its intended destination!

I was going to do cables with the colours that he indicated that he liked, but the colours spoke to me and said they didn't want to be tied up and twisted into cables...

...so I went with the rustic-style.

Thank you so much.

Well, I guess it was a pretty good match up because he indicated that he liked these kinds of colours -- and, well, I truly love them, myself.

They're Maine colours -- The Pine Tree State -- can't you imagine being in a Pine woods in the middle of Winter?

By the way...is this an original scarf or a pattern you found somewhere? If it's original, you NEED to sell it. It would be a big seller, IMHO.

It's "kind of" original.

I based Elizabeth Zimmermann's 3&1 sweater design for the ends and re-charted it just a bit and I used a completely different colour scheme for the actual charted bits -- then just coloured it up to the centre and then back again.

The colour changes with the lice pattern fractally subtracting on themselves is my idea, general-knowledge traditional knitting pattern -- but used in this design only because I thought it would look rather nice.

So, basic idea already dreamt up, but recharted and re-coloured and a few completely different things all compiled into one project -- in the world of sheet music we would label that at the top of the page: "Arranged by: "

hmmmmm...coming to think of it...I wonder if that WOULD work in the knitting world...

I would think "adapted and

I would think "adapted and derived from" citation would covr your bases, but since I'm not a copyright lawyer yada yada yada. If in doubt check w/ the publisher of the original.

you've taken a sweater design and re-charted and re-coloured and re-worked for a scarf. I'd think there's plenty of original work in there and there is no way they could fairly object.

Perhaps I might be lucky

Perhaps I might be lucky enough to get Meg Swansen, herself, if I call out to Schoolhouse.

:)

...but encouragement reigns victorious! I'm going to chart it out and put it to .pdf and up to the storefront it goes.

See? That's all I needed -- a bit of real reasoning from some of the folks I like the best.

Thank you -- I feel better now.

I think it's the colours

I think it's the colours that do it.

One of my inspirations was "Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening" by Robert Frost...that and a memory or two of one of the places where I grew up out in the country.

Thank you,
