Fleece Yarn?

potterdc's picture

Has anyone out there tried any of the fleece yarn on the market? I need to knit up (need....want, whatever!) a couple of scarfs for friends who are fiber weenies, and can't tolerate wool touching their skin OR hand washing. I found a couple of yarns out there: Knit One Crochet Too's "Fleece" yarn, and PolarKnit, actually made by PolarFleece. Has anyone used these? Any suggestions for anything else?

Thanks,
Jonathan in rainy DC

I've got some polar fleece

I've got some polar fleece yarn, but haven't tried it yet. I'd be interested in what others say about it.

I've never tried anything

I've never tried anything specifically marketed as fleece yarn, but I have used a very similar yarn to make a baby blanket called "leggero" by Lana Grossa.

Soft, chenille-type, hypoallergenic, machine washable and brightly-colored worsted weight yarn. Perfect for babies blankets, hats, sweaters and such.
Content: 100% microfiber ( nylon)
Made in Italy
Size: 50g/178 yds
Gauge: 18 sts/4" using needle #6-8US
Care: machine-wash gentle cycle/dry flat

I found that it is VERY soft and the drape is quite loose. I've also made a few scarves from it, and they are warm and soft.
