"Spoon" Chrysanthenum Shawl/Laprobe

MMario's picture

One of the show forms of Mums is called "spoon" the petals are tubular for most of their length, flaring out at the ends. Officially, this is what the shawl is suppossed to represent.

I have to confess the working title was "Penis Envy"

Gee, Mario, you have done it

Gee, Mario, you have done it again. A man who can think in charts!! I am rather ignorant but am going to do this one because it has chart only and I want to learn how to do it. I have a couple of questions. I have no idea what EOR stands for (something simple I am sure) and in the third chart you have thrown in an "A" . I think this might be a double decrease but am not sure. If I use up some Knitpicks palette, what needle size would you recommend? You are our hero!! Thanks.

EOR = End of Round (or

EOR = End of Round (or Beginning of round, depending on how you look at it)
I usually mark the last stitch rather then the first stitch as I tend to do patterns that start with a YO and if you mark the first stich then you have to constantly move the marker.

the 'A' is a double decrease and you may use whatever floats your boat. I tend to use slip two together knitwise, knit one, pass slipped stiches over, but k3 tog would work, as would slip 1, knit two together, psso.
With Knitpicks palette, US 8 or 9 for a shawl, probably US 5 or 6 for a lapghan.

If you are a tight knitter, go up in size reccomended for shawl.
