Right....I've finally cracked and bought Debbie Stollers 'Son of stitch n bitch' as I was reading through the book and went through some of the patterns all I could think was 'am I this dumb or is this just too difficult, or are the patterns just so difficult to read.

Anyone else have the same problem?

I've read through a few of the patterns too and found them a little convoluted. Needless to say, I haven't actually knit any of them... maybe some day.

The Argyle Style Scarf is a double knit, you are actually knitting on both sides, but to answer the questions some of the patterns are advanced, some of them are not written well but most of them are just perfect. I bought it because it is promoted for men and it includes Knit and Crochet, I could care less for the beer cozy, but there may be some fellows out there that will find that magical and that is the beauty of this book, there is something for everyone. I have never been any good at reading charts well, but if I have a problem with the Pattern I will go to the chart to clarify! lol!

You have to realize that you may not ne proficient in all the techniques and that in itself may give you the impression of difficulty. You can always try a pattern and ask for help here, there are hundreds of men and women here who have so much experience and willing to give you a hint about how to work something out. Don't be discouraged and keep at it!

The red smoking jacket was a little weird to navigate for a while, and the Uncle Argyle scarf's attempt at conveniently charting the double knitting has puzzled many people I know...

What stumped you, of all knitters?
