I hate balancing the digitized checkbook (Pseudo-checkbook, as I call it). I felt a tear slide effortlessly down my cheek as I dipped into my MacBook savings account - the account I vowed never to touch until I had enough for a MacBook - just to ensure that I did not (once again) have negative cash flow this month. Boooooooo....
I got my hair cut today. I found out during the process that my stylist is, and I quote, "Republican, through and through." WTF... She was talking about how great McCain would be as President (citing nothing but his POW experience) and how much she loved Palin. "She's a firecracker!"
I'm not saying I don't admire McCain's bravery in the face of such a traumatic and horrible experience, but being a POW doesn't automatically equate to "good President." Honestly, I'm a bit leery of anyone who clearly has some PTSD back there somewhere. Resolved or not, that shit can pop up out of nowhere, and I do not want that person in charge of "THE BIG, RED BUTTON" when that happens. I worked for three years in mental health, and even "long-healed" PTSD wounds can come out from nowhere and fuck a person up quicker than you can open a bag of chips. You don't want someone like that driving a car with you in it, let alone being the Commander-in-Chief. That's my opinion, anyway.
Another opinion here: Palin is an idiot. Even if I was a "Republican through and through," I wouldn't vote for McCain just because of Palin. I think the only way she would ever be even remotely intelligent enough to run anything is if A) it required no intelligence (or experience) or B) someone else was telling her what to do, what to say, where to go, when to wipe, what to eat, how often to blink, and what to sign.
Okay, sorry... Political rant over. I'm just frustrated with the economic state of everything. I think I have to take my car in to the shop. The windshield wipers are not running very well, and they're making funny sounds. Not a good sign. All the shops are closed on the weekend, and Monday is supposed to have thunderstorms. Yay!
Travis leaves for South America on Tuesday for work. :-( I hate it when he leaves. On the plus side, it'll be a short trip, and when he comes back, we're going to see So You Think You Can Dance on tour. Sweet!
Mom and Dad just emailed me and want to come up for a visit?!?! I'm in shock. I've lived here for 4+ years and they've never once come up. I've been with Travis for nearly three of those years, and they've never even met him! I'm stoked!
I created a pattern for a scarf for Jason as a thank you to the sweater. It took some planning and some test knitting. Still test knitting it, actually. But I'm kind of excited about it, so we'll have to see how it's going to turn out.
Time for bed.
