holiday busytime

howdy everybody...the past two weeks have been high-gear knitting as the holidays approach...i've got about nine scarves all done...except for the sewing-in-the-ends part that I always hate--nothing too complicated...a few one-ball faux fur (a yarn called 'splash' that I got at ImagiKnit), and some cotton scarves (i think called 'Sanskrit' at ArtFibers, which I'll probably get more of), and some light fashion scarves ('Baccarat' at ArtFibers)...i thought i'd work on a couple larger projects, so i tracked down some free patterns at LionBrand for shawls, and sent off for the yarn...the one I'm doing now has 85 stitches on size 9s, and a bunch of k2tog-tbl and some slip-k2tog-psso, and even k3tog, but the pattern is cool...it will just take forever, it looks like...not helped when i'm trying to watch CSI in the background...so i may alternate between the shawls (i'll be happy if I get 2 done this season) and some more easy scarves...

...i've stuck with simpler stuff since i started learning a couple years ago, but i think 2005 will be my year of the hat, and maybe a throw or two...i do have a really nice pattern from the 40s for an angora shawl with little crochet flowers on it, so perhaps i'll finally find some matching yarn for that project...anyway, at this rate I should get to sweaters by perhaps 2007...and maybe by then men will be wearing some of the 60s-era smart knit skirts and suits i've got patterns for....but no rush, for me anyway...

...it's been nice checking in to see what everybody's up to...perhaps we'll have a little get-together soon, though I know everybody tends to be overscheduled for the holidays...enjoy!
