Luna Moth Shawl

Aaronknits's picture

This is my interpretation of the Luna Moth Shawl from Elann. This pattern is available for free at http://elann.com/ShowFreePattern.asp?Id=228024. The pattern calls for size 8 needles and more of a DK weight yarn (I think) but I did mine on size 4 with a fingering weight yarn to get a smaller guage/scale. The yarn is Briston Yarn Gallery's "Buckingham", the same yarn I used for my "Not So Rugged Scarf". I used just under four skeins (about 817 yards). The shawl is worked from the center neck down and was another one of those easy to follow and fun to knit patterns that looks like it was more work than it actually was. Which isn't to say that this didn't take a lot of work. When the rows get to be 300+ stitches across they start to seem a little tedious. This took me about a month to complete. It measures about 52 inches across and 38 inches down.
