project on hold until next trip to cabin.
It looks like Nylon Rope to me. At least that's what I plan on using, because it won't stretch like cotton. I was eying someone else's hammock the other day and had the independent thought that I could knit one myself. I knew I wasn't the first to think of it, but was happy to come up with it on my own. I want to see pictures of it installed!
Anyone see the knitting "art" a couple years back - steel cable on telephone poles - they had to manipulate them with cranes?
I hadn't heard of this before so I went googeling (is that a real verb?!)... This isn't steel cable on telephone poles, but it's the same idea....
Grace and peace,
Perfect for Knit in Public Day...!
And are the shovels "intact" or just the handles?
MMario - ambiguity is cultivated, it doesn't happen in a vacuum!
Holy crap that's AMAZING! I've seen it referenced before as being part of the "Manly Art of Knitting" book (I think that's the right one). Never thought I'd see one actually being made!
ROCK ON JEFF!!!
Looks fascinating. How's it going with the lack of points on the shovel handles? Did you sharpen them a bit? What are you using for yarn/rope? Did you get the rope on a spool? What lengths?
Promoting and inspiring the art of knitting amongst men.
