I think I have a good grasp of knitting and purling now. I have completed hats and scarves using garter stitching and straight stockinette and some scarves using Gansey patterns and borders. I was interested in doing some larger projects, and something other than scarves and hats. I mean, as nice as it would be to have matching hats and scarves for any color I might wear, knitting the same thing over and over again would get boring.
So I am looking to start 2 new projects:
(1) The Ireland Souvenir Scarf designed by Linda Daniels (Northampton Wools) for a trip that she and some knitters took to Ireland back in 2007. This is going to be a good challenge for me. It is another scarf, but it has yarn overs, bobbles, cables, ssk, and a few other things that I have to ask the ladies at my yarn store about. I will let you know how it turns out.
(2)I want to make my first sweater...not in the round. I want to knit it in pieces and then put them together. Does anyone have a good sweater pattern or have some suggestions about where to look for interesting sweater patterns that are not too girlie? Most of the sweater patterns I have seen have been for women or just straight stockinette.
Let me know.
