Cast On! Faux Spanish Lace Shawl

Thor's picture

Heading down to Nashville to meet Paul's Mom in a few weeks and wanted to knit her something special. MMario's Faux Spanish Lace Shawl (that many of you have done so beautifully) fits the bill!

I am using Koigu "Painter's Palette" premium merino wool (50g/175yds/160m) in a beautiful speckled robin's egg blue with tones of purple. Mom tends to lean toward pastels... where I am a bold & dark color guy... so Paul helped me pick out a great "happy medium" yarn. While my LYS had this in the "Sock Yarn" section and the label suggests using a US3 needle (guage 28 sts/4") I am knitting it up using my brand new US7 Addi Turbo Lace circs - THANK YOU, PAUL! - and I think it's coming along nicely. Very excited to see it blocked.

I love patterns that are easy to work but knit up like you are a master! Thanks, MMario, for sharing the pattern.

Looks like you're off to a great start. I just cast on for this pattern on Friday. It's a really fun pattern (and the first pattern I could actually memorize).

Looking good! Hope she likes it. I'm betting it will block out to be nice and airy looking but still substantial enough to ward off the air conditioning.

Great color selection. Like you, I also prefer the deeper, more vibrant tones and stay away from the pastels and softer tones. It's looking quite beautiful.
