socks

Hi,

I am in need of some guidance with socks.  I've been an avid sock knitter for two years and am tired of having to patch the holes where the heel meets the instep.  I have this problem whether doing a short row or heel flap-type heel.  Any suggestions?

thanks

I find wrapping the stitches

I find wrapping the stitches fill the holes, but I have yet to find an easily understood explanation of the technique. So, bear with me as I try to describe it my way.

When I "wrap" a knit stitch, first I bring the yarn forward, then slip a stitch, move the yarn to the back, slip the stitch back to the other needle, then knit the stitch. this "wrap" is done at the ends of short rows, and again when picking up those ends.

It works for me, and I have not experienced any unsightly or uncomfortable seams. In fact, I have shown this to people who have always worked flap heels because they could never get short rows to come out "factory" and they love it. If you try it, let me know how it works for you. Good luck.

Hmmmm -- I just always use

Hmmmm -- I just always use the yarn end to patch the hole.

Sock holes.It could be that

Sock holes.

It could be that you need to pick up a stitch clpser to the join when you pick up stitiches for the gusset.or perhaps  pik up two stites in that  first  stitch to fill in the joim. also be sure to knit that dirst stitch very tightly at the  join in the gusset. This is how I solved the problem with my sock knitting.

Hi! I think it's works when

Hi! I think it's works when you slip the first stitch on every row when you knit the first part of heel, maybe you do that already. Then when you pick up stitches on the side of heel you turn the stitch so that it gets twisted. The twist of the stitch makes the hole filled. Pick also upp one or two stitches between first and second needle and between 3rd and 4th neddle, that also fills upp holes. Hope you understand what I mean and good luck. And I hope that I understood you problem right / Ulf
