Repeat this 32-row stripe sequence until scarf measures about 72 inches from beginning, ending with 6 rows of dark green. Change to navy and work Row 1 of chevron pattern. That math is all wrong --

That math is all wrong -- Rows one and two will never match up. The best I can figure is that you should k1, ssk, *k9, slip two stitches individually purlwise, k1, psso* 3x, k9, k2tog, k1. Now your 51 stitches will be 43. Row 2 seems right and should get you back to 51 when you reach the end. It's worth a try, anyway. It's a great looking scarf -- I hope it works out.

I knew the math was off -

I knew the math was off - but couldn't come up with a solution . Gladsomeone has a functioning brain cell today - as I certainly do not.

It seems to me like 29, but youhave to count tomake sure when you have 29 you do and when youhave 51 you do as well. Looks fantastic.

well - row 1 is a multiple

well - row 1 is a multiple of 14 plus 15, which yes, means one repeat would be 29.

But row 2 is a multiple of 10 plus three.

and they tell you to cast on 51 for the scarf - which isn't either of the above.

So you've got me.
