keeping track of your projects

kylewilliam's picture

another question - how do you guys keep track of your projects? Is there an online program for the yarn type, where you bought it, when it was started, the pattern origin, etc. and when you finished it? I'd love (and be willing even to pay) for a program that did this for me :)

I want to journal my history of knitting in a concise and standard manner..

ideas?

:)

You know. I simply love

You know. I simply love handwriting in my journal adding pictures of the products, wools and yarns. I'm almost contemplating as I write this of the going to get some sort of scrapbooking supplies and making that be my journal.

Kyle, Try this little

Kyle,

Try this little engine:

http://www.cara4webshopping.com/cara_free/knitcomp.htm

It's freeware and is also a calculator/converter from sts. to inches, etc. Very nifty, I think.

Let me know what you think.

For thems of you that are weavers, WinWeave.exe is POIFECT-a-MUNDO! Actually, you *could* design your pattern on winweave, print it out in graph form and VOICI! You'd have your charted knitting pattern. Hmmmmmm . . . . . . .

HTH!

What I'm looking for is some

What I'm looking for is some sort of tracking program (not a patterning program) - something that will help me see what I'm knitting, when I started it, the yarn, pattern, etc. and when I finished it - sort of an online scrap book type program that would also run reports maybe - that might tell me how long it took to complete a project (and if I went way in depth inputing information, it might tell me how many hours it took to make something...

If anyone knows how to write programs, this would be a super cool thing to make and share - I don't think it exists... if you know of one, share please :) thanks for looking

:)

Ah.

Well, that sounds like a perfect candidate for a MS Access project. Let me see what I can come up with. With Access you can run reports, have easy, smooth data entry and even have a place for notes and comments. Pretty simple to fiddle with, also.

I'll play with it this weekend, Kyle and let you know.

I don't. My "journal" is

I don't. My "journal" is out being worn by friends, relatives and those lucky winners of the auctions I've given items to. *grin*

But there are about 800 gazillion database programs that could easily be setup to do this for you - and give you reports on projects by colour, yarn weight, length of time start to finish, etc.
