Shedir

Shedir

Started: 26th January 2007
Finished: 03rd February 2007
Yarn: Wolle Rödel Soft Merino, 100% superwash merino, colour #359
Needle: Two 4.5 mm Addi Turbo circs (using 2 circs method)
Pattern: Shedir from Knitty's Breast-Cancer Awareness Mini-Issue
Modification: Since I'm using bigger yarn and needles than called for, I did only 3 repeats of the cable pattern before decreasing

Yes, I finished off Shedir on Saturday night...and I'd been wearing it since. I can't exactly say that the pattern is fun to knit. It was quite a fair bit of work to knit all these cables...thank goodness I know how to cable without a cable needle, otherwise I'd have gone bonkers dealing with the extra needle (although I used 2 circs instead of dpns to knit this).

Shedir

One of the nicest features that I find on Shedir is the crown decrease. It makes quite a nice pattern.

I might knit another Shedir some time in the future, but I think I'll go for a smaller gauge and better yarn. As for now, I'm satisfied with this one. :-)

And FYI, I had the yarn in my stash already and I'm not yet cheating on the Knit from your Stash 2007!

Die Buchreihe kenne ich. Eigentlich hat ein Freund von mir zwei Sets davon vom Flohmarkt ergattert und er meint, er würde mir ein Set geben...aber bist jetzt habe ich ihn nicht gesehen.

Du sollst unbedingt mal was daraus stricken.

Very excellent work! Those

Very excellent work! Those cables are amazing.. yes, it can be daunting to get started, but one stitch at a time (or 3 as in this case) and you get through it. I really like the decreases on the crown. Dark colours always make it difficult to see the patterns well; perhaps something a little lighter next time would help. And a finer yarn? Hmm... I think I like the fullness and warmth of the thicker yarn. Still, wonderful work!

I've had the pattern but

I've had the pattern but have been hesitent to get started.....that is over the top!

It looks great. What didn't

It looks great. What didn't you like about the yarn outside of it being a larger gauge than called for in the pattern? I would have thought that yarn to be a pleasure to work with.

Not tonight honey: I'm knitting...

It's the gauge. The fact

It's the gauge. The fact that the yarn is heavier and the gauge bigger than called for makes the whole cable pool together, i.e. you don't see the cables separate very well from each other.

Nevertheless, I'm satisfied with it.

I dunno...the pattern looks pretty clean in the photographs. Makes me want to try it.

I need another hat pattern to play with.

I too thought the design

I too thought the design shows very clearly - perhaps it is one case where photo is better then live, but the reverse it usually the truth!

MMario - I don't live in the 21st Century - but I sometimes play a character who does.

No, not at all. It looks

No, not at all. It looks exactly like in the photo....it's more my personal preference that I rather have the cables spaced out from each other a bit more.

Wonderful work! Thanks for
