Happy Holidays

Joe-in Wyoming's picture

To all my dear friends and fellow MWKers -

May you all have many Blessings through this Holiday Season and the coming New Year. Whether you celebrate the Solstice [like me], Christmas, Hanukkah [which was early this year], Kwanzaa, New Year, Lunar New Year or whichever and whatever your heart desires - or even not at all - I wish you Peace and Happiness in the time ahead.

May you all have Happy Knitting and lots of fiber-related Joy, as well.

Thanks Joe, Hope you

Thanks Joe,
Hope you have/had a great holiday season as well.
I am curious, how you choose to celebrate the winter solstice. I keep a candle or lamp burning throughout the night (sort of a variation on the "Yule log" tradition.

Good question. I haven't any particular way of celebrating, other than noting that it is the Solstice in my personal journal. [Same with the summer Solstice, which is also the anniversary of my Mom's birth.] However, that said, I may have ways that I honor both dates that are so automatic that I just do them without thinking about it.

My "Holiday Season" actually extends from Halloween until Lunar New Year so I get to enjoy quite a few days of celebration. Probably another reason why it's hard for me to pick out any one thing I do, as it covers the beginnings of the New Year from the pagan Celtic tradition through the Far Eastern. Both influences in my personal beliefs, among others.

This particular holiday season - as defined in Christian tradition - has been quite nice and I received a skein of lovely sock yarn in a colorway of purples accented by deep turquoise blue and deep red from friends who visited the Netherlands last summer. I look forward to knitting it up.

Thanks for your reply and I hope your holidays have been wonderful.

Merry Christmas Joe!
Having met you online and then in person at the Colorado retreat, I have come to know you and value our friendship as a gift for the ages. Thanks for all the help you have given me, and the kind words of praise that have kept me clicking my needles.
Hugs!
Mark
