My first pair of socks are completed!!! Done one at a time using magic
loop. I might try two at a time if I can find some good instructions. What do
you guys use on here? DPNs, magic loop, or two circs?
My preference is magic loop, two at a time, toe-up, with sweet tomato
padded heel. Finishing one sock and then starting all over at the beginning
to complete the second one is a killer for me.
Thanks for the reply. I'm about to learn two at a time, cuff-down. I just
watched a video on the sweet tomato heel, but I think I'll have to buy the
book to understand it better. Then I'll attempt toe-up, and see which method
Terry, They look great. Nothing feels the same as hand made socks. Love
Hey great pair I love the colours too!
They look great! I have made a couple pairs now and looking forward to
starting the next pair. I use 47 inch circular needles and do two at a time.
I learned that method from Liat Gat. She has great instructional videos in
Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm trying two at a time with my
next pair. This pair was the first for the magic loop method.
I am very fond of Liat Gat as well. Her tutorials are really superbly
made. I haven't bought the e-books yet. Which ones do you recommend?
I don't know who that is? I take it she is someone I should be aware of in
the knitting world!
I like her style of teaching.
If that is your first pair of socks, you are an accomplished knitter
indeed. I've only been knitting for four years and my first sock was enormous
for some reason. Your first pair is beautiful!
Thanks for the encouragement. Now to cast on for the next pair!!
Those are nice looking socks. Bill's lightening the photo brings out the
detail even better. Congratulations.
Yes, Bill made the pic sooo much better. And thanks for the
They look comfy and well knit! A funny coincidence: I actually have a pair
of socks on the needles from that exact same yarn, it's made here in Turkey
and sometimes we find it on the "export yarn extras" shelf.
Oh NO!!! That's freaky!! I can't wait to see yours!!!!
Great socks, Terry! The colors are so autumnal. I wouldn't mind having a
pair that color.
Magic loop is my needle of choice right now, but may try the old-fashioned
DPNs next just to satisfy my curiosity with tradition. I prefer one ball at a
time. I've managed to keep my two balls untangled for almost 60 years now,
adding two more balls to the equation would most certainly cause a bit of a
tangle. LOL Sorry, couldn't resist.
What is the name and colorway of the yarn?
Just caught the joke.....That was a good one!!!!!
It's Paton's Kroy Socks FX yarn...Clover Colors. I like it too. I thought
of Autumn when I bought it.
Thanks, I'm a lousy photographer.
They look great!
I ran your pic through photoshop, so I could see them.
