Hi...time for another question re harrison vest pattern...
I am at the section where I am shaping the shoulders, and I keep ending up
with six 'extra' stitches when i am completing the first side, reversing
Here is what it says:
(parenthesis my comments)
starting with 53 stitches, cast off 6 stitches, knit until there are 11 stitches on right needle, turn and leave remaining stitches on a stitch holder. (that's 36 st on stitch holder)
Work each side of neck separately. (So far, so good)
cast off 4 st. purl to end, cast off remaining 7 stitches (okay that takes care of the 11 stitches that were on the right needle)
(here's where the math trouble begins)
with RS facing, rejoin yarn to remaining stitches, cast off 19 stitches, K
to end. (this leaves me with 17 stitches)
complete to match first side, reversing shapings.
so...back to casting off 4 st P to end, cast off remaining 7 stitches...(but that leaves me with 6 extra stitches!)
What am I not understanding?
I have included a pic of the intructions
