Just a simple hat

ILHIKER's picture

Even with the Christmas deadline approaching, I had to take a break from the coffee-with-cream sweater for my son and knit up a simple hat for a co-worker's son with a bit of color to it. I used Plymouth Yarn's Encore Tweed, worsted weight yarn that is 75% acrylic, 22% wool, and 3% rayon. I think that should stand up to whatever a 5-year-old can use it for...and it can be washed and tumble dried. His mom will love that.

Thanks, Joe. The little guy is a rough-and-tumble kid, but even tough little kids need a nice warm garment. He should look great in it.

Thanks, Ron. The little guy is going to get a matching scarf in a beautiful blue tweed with two thick stripes at each end to match the hat. And if the stars align in the heavens, he'll get a blue tweed hat as well. He will be a very well-appointed young man.

Thanks, Terry. I like the tweeds. I am making a sweater for myself out of a brown tweed that is amazingly soft. Hats are a great gift and they knit up fast, especially ones without fussy stitching.

That's a really nice yarn

That's a really nice yarn you've made that hat with. I've been doing a few hats myself.
