Favorite socks

grandcarriage's picture

Does anyone have a favorite sock pattern with the following considerations: heavier than sock weight yarn and lightly shaped...not full square heel treatment. I'm looking for a totally brainless and stretchy sock that I can knit on where-ever and whenever I have a free moment. (or when walking).

Thanks,
Bob

Those socks sounds like the 'r.p.m.' socks from Knitty Summer 2006, except it uses a 6x3 rib. I knitted them in Socks That Rock yarn and they look great. You can see them at www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTrpm.html
Good luck

I like a short row toe

I like a short row toe because I find them easiest and I'm lazy.

spiral Tube socks as a toe-up?

make a toe to fit (your choice)
knit in a 3 x 1 rib, shift the rib 1 stitch every row until long enough; switch to 1 x 1 rib for a couple inches for a cuff.

Mario,

Do you have a photo of that tube sock. Sounds like a great pattern.
