A Turtles Pace

theknittingdude's picture

Hi Everyone, I am new to the site and love reading the posts so I decided to post my first one. just finished a toy turtle as my last project. It was a far cry from sweaters, cowls and socks that I usually do. A friend of mine asked me to knit it for her daughters birthday and I agreed. I was glad when I completed it even though I avoided working on it as much as I could. I can honestly say as this was my first toy project, it will also be my last. The end result though was kinda cute. I thought I would share it with everyone.

I love box turtles, I'm 52

I love box turtles, I'm 52 and still have wonderful dreams of finding them all over the place. Your rendition of my favorite reptile is wonderful, more stylish then cute - I may have to try my hand at one.

How big is it by the way, scaling it from the carpet nap I'm guessing 6 or 7" long.

Thanks for the comment. This little guy from head to toe is about 10 inches and he is about 4 inches or so high. Not much to knit, more time was spent on sewing and embellishing. Let me know if you decide to tackle one.

What can be better than a gift for a child and the light in their eye, well maybe a surprise for the significant other and the light in their eyes.

Great job, what is the pattern?

Hi
Thanks for the thoughtful comment. The pattern I got from revelry. It's called "PIE CRUST the TORTOISE Turtle" by Debbie Berlkin. If you search in patterns for "Pie Crust" you will find it. I pasted a link below to the revelry page but not sure if it will work. Hope this was helpful.

Thanks so much for the comment. You are right. Not so much fun to do, I kept putting it off. IF you get a change read my personal blog and you can read the whole story. I think it quite humorous but true. There is a link to my website on my profile.

Thanks again.
