Surgery

Hello Gentlemen,

So, this Thanksgiving marks one year of chronic tennis/potter's/knitter's elbow. Three shots of cortisone, five months of physical therapy, and countless hours of heating or icing, acupuncture, herbs and alternative supplements, the pain just gets worse, so my orthopedist is suggesting an MRI and arthroscopic surgery to clean out the joint. For insurance and work reasons, I had to schedule it before the end of the year, so I'll be heading to the hospital on December 23rd, and spending my Christmas recuperating - ie, watching movies and having the Best Beloved wait on me! Have any of you had this type of surgery? If so, I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks,
Jonathan in DC

I've had both knees "cleaned"

I've had both knees "cleaned" up. Both procEdures were pretty quick recoveries. I was weight bearing the same day and my pain was much better though with my abused legs they will never be pain free. Remember, motion heals.

Good to hear - thank you!

Good to hear - thank you! That's exactly how they described the surgery - just cleaning up the joint.

Good luck. Giving up one

Good luck. Giving up one Christmas in your life is a small price to pay for painless knitting - IMHO. I'd ask for every sentimental Christmas movie ever made.

Jonathan,
That's a difficult time to have surgery...hope everything goes smoothly and that you heal quickly.

Closest is my twin having

Closest is my twin having arthroscopic knee work quite some time ago. As long as you keep up the follow up regimen, you should be okay. Hope all goes well and that you don't become TOO spoiled by the Best Beloved's pampering and catering.

I had an appendectomy once,

I had an appendectomy once, but so far no elbow/joint surgery. In any case, I hope everything comes out OK. Except for the stuff that's not supposed to come out at all. : )
