Latest Project

Maybe my last project of the year, before it gets too hot here to knit.
It's a pattern I made up from a Reverse Herringbone Scarf pattern I found on the net.
Got some lovely Alpaca yarn from the Hunter Valley just north of Sydney.
I am making it for my God-daughter before she moves to Melbourne next year.
The only stipulation was that it had to be "Sex Bomb Red", not tacky "Hooker Red"
Red is Red as far as I'm concerned :-)

I like the Reverse

I like the Reverse Herringbone pattern, I wonder if I could make it work for socks. Personally I prefer Hooker Red but then, I'm cheap and tawdry.

St. Louis, MO, USA is the hottest most humid hell hole in the world come July and August and I knit right through it. I just knit with cotton, linen, rayon, hemp..... anything but wool. But wool is great in the fall, winter and spring when the weather here can be amazingly beautiful.

Growing up in Tampa is probably why I've never liked the feel of wool. I have three balls of Merino wool blend to make my sister-in-law a Thistle Lace scarf (thank you, ScottLY), and I may work-for-trade to get some brown Merino blend for the wheat ear lace (thank you, ScottLY) because the colors are the most appropriate, but either of those will be the first time I will work with something over 25% wool.

I personally find air conditioning and a big ceiling fan great ways to provide comfort in the summer while knitting.
