Glad to be among Men Who Knit

It's just the beginning

Well, here I sit trying to think of what to write about in my blog.

I have been knitting for a few years now. It all started as a young boy when my mother first showed me how to cast on to a needle and how to knit and purl. Well, I was thrilled. I created a holy mess of a something, but boy was I proud. After that I put down my needles for a number of years; only to have a very good friend suggest I take up knitting while I was going through my divorce. She gave me a project of knitting a toddler cardigan for my grandson. Now folks, remember I hadn't knitted for years. Well believe it or not I finished this cardigan with buttons and pockets. It was beautiful. Now I was really hooked and started knitting my next sweater.

My knitting projects mostly are sweater, I enjoy doing cables and textures.  I recently finished a bulky knit turtle neck cable for my daughter.  On this project I needed to increase the size as the pattern was for only small sizes. It came out very good.

Now my daughters have me making evening stoles for them as they are going to a wedding this November. Need to get busy.

Oh, forgot to mention I just learned how to crochet and finished making a rippled blanket out of some of my left over yarns. I am thinking of making a fisherman's cable sampler afghan once I am finished with the girls projects. Will keep you posted as to my successes.

Yes Stoles one for each of

Yes Stoles one for each of my daughters.  One is a very simple knit and purl "shrug" made with mohair.  The other is more of an open knitstich using larger needles using three different yarns.  This is not fun.

Don't let *THEM* know

Don't let *THEM* know that...vent any frustration here. And when they get multitudinous complements on your masterpiece - just grin........remember, never let them see you sweat.
