My bad ass knitting tattoo

jwhassjr's picture

I always said I would never be able to get a tattoo because I'm not a fan of needles, but about 6 months ago I got the bug and really wanted a tattoo. I pondered and pondered, and finally decided if I was going to do it, it would need to be something that truly represents me, so I decided to bite the bullet and got it!

Awesome tattoo!! I have one

Awesome tattoo!! I have one on my shoulder that is a Mexican sugar skull. The shape is Jack Skellington's skull from "Nightmare Before Christmas" and there are yarn balls in the eyes with knitting needles for crossbones. I also have the word "Tricot" above the skull.
You won't regret it. I am so passionate about knitting and my tattoo symbols for me that passion.

I love it! When I read the title of your entry - "Bad ass knitting tattoo" - I thought to myself, how bad ass could a knitting tattoo possibly be? Then I opened up the image and showed my partner and we both said "Yep - bad ass!" Very nice. I turn 50 in a couple of weeks and am getting ready to begin thinking about maybe getting a tat...we'll see.

Lol. I told my artist that I wanted something to send a message: I'll kick your ass if you mess with me; then I'll knit you a sweater. I think he captured the essence.

I say go for it on getting some ink!

Way cool! Congratulations

Way cool! Congratulations on getting branded. I think tattoos can express a guy's persona beautifully. I like what you chose. Wear it with pride!

Very nice work and I love

Very nice work and I love that you used the French word for knitter, so it could be gender-specific.

Hope you don't regret

Hope you don't regret getting inked. I'd rather wear a t-shirt inked with my hobbies, political feelings, or social statements. If those interests change, then so does the shirt. If you're happy with your decision and your tattoo, enjoy.

Most interesting. I have never had any interest in tattoos but who knows? I may still get one. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.

Love the tat! I don’t have

Love the tat! I don’t have knitting themed ink, just a tribal. It took me a year to come up the wit design I wanted a month to find the location and 3 months to commit to walking into the shop, I already knew what shop I wanted, voted #1 in the US Midwest. I’m planning my next one already, it’s hard to stop at just one…

That's AWESOME - congratulations on making such a statement about your passion! I have wanted a tattoo for a while (years and years; since I was 17) but have yet to commit to a design or location...

Great design!

I teetered on what I wanted

I teetered on what I wanted and decided to give a few things I wanted to the artist and let him come up with the tattoo. I figure I would find fault in a tattoo if I had one selected and had preconceptions. But that's my OCD; this process of trusting the artist was therapeutic for my control issues. :)
