Well, not really, but it was because of Doctor Who that I taught myself how to knit. I loved the scarves that Tom Baker wore during his tenure as the Doctor. When my mom told me a couple years ago she was going to knit us all scarves for Christmas, I told her exactly what I wanted and gave her the pattern. Well, time has a way of slipping past and two years later, still no scarf. So I hit up my good friend YouTube and taught myself. I made my first scarf in January. It measures 15 feet in length and 9 inches wide. The original measured 26 feet and 11 inches wide. I was disappointed that mine didn't reach that length, but am so happy I made it! I'm working on a second one right now, on larger gauge needles, that should be the same width and length as the one Tom Baker wore. My goal for this year is to make one of each from the series.
