Baby Blanket

rubensoliz's picture

From the moment that I started crocheting, I envisioned projects for my nephews. It is then fitting that my first large project is a gift for Adrian. I’ve been working on it over the past year, stitching a square here and a square there alongside smaller projects, only recently speeding up the process in an attempt to finish it while home in Arizona. This project represents my own development in crochet. Some of the earlier squares have inconsistent tension. I used to follow the pattern for “Circle in a Square” like doctrine, carefully monitoring my work. I would tally the first fifteen treble stitches on a sheet of paper, still modestly concerned that I would forget one. And often I would, having to undo rounds of stitches and go back to the initial round and add or subtract a few stitches. After completing several squares, 48 in all, I have the pattern memorized. I no longer need to tally stitches, much less look at the pattern, anymore.

The blanket looks GREAT!!!

The blanket looks GREAT!!! I love the colors you chose. My first ever needlework project was a baby afghan for my nephew made of crochet squares too! It must have taken me 3 days and a zillion start overs to get that first square done. He still has it at the end of his bed and he's almost 12 now. Congratulations!
