Spinning at the Colorado Irish Festival

Well, I was watching some of the cultural presentations at the Colorado Irish Festival over the weekend, and I saw this woman doing something unusual. At first, I thought she was spinning a top or a toy of some sort. Then I realized she was spinning wool. I took a picture of her with my phone, and promised I would share it with you guys.

I know some of you are spinners and would appreciate this.

I've fixed the photo. I had linked it from where I posted it on Twitter, but apparently that didn't work, so I uploaded it to the MWK site instead.

I was in the Cultural Village part of the festival most of the time, though I wandered around and was there all weekend. I did a presentation where I performed songs and stories from ten thousand years of Irish history. We also had Irish language information, history of the Irish in the Union army during the Civil War, how to trace your family roots, how to play the tin whistle, and even the Uilleann pipes, plus lots of good, local Irish bands. And that was only in our little corner.

I also write an online column about Celtic music. Check out my review of the Irish Festival's music here.

I'm also going to the Colorado Scottish Festival in August and the Longs Peak Highland Festival in September. We have some great festivals in Colorado.

If you had heard him, you'd know him. Incredible performer and composer of songs-that-sound-historic...he had some great irish/civil war stuff.

Sounds great MMario, just the sort of thing I'm interested in. I did the history of Ireland in story and song myself, with mostly traditional music, but I wrote a couple too. My friend Sherman talked about the Irish Brigade in the American Civil War. It was quite popular.

I thought I posted a reply to this, but now I don't see it. I was in the Cultural Village area, with history people and traditional music. And I've fixed the photo so it should appear now.
