I Just Bought One of These; I Think I'm Nuts!

Okay, so maybe I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer but I've got the spinning bug and I just had to have this one. I have been talking about it for awhile. When I broke the news to the BF, all he had to say was "How big is it (I know; he's such a size queen), where are you going to put it and does it make noise?"
Of course, it will live in the family room near the fireplace where any respectable spinning wheel should live.
I got it unfinished. I'm going to stain it mahogany. My neighbour is a wood worker and he is going to help me pick out the right finish.
I'm really excited. It arrives Thursday. However, I leave for a conference that day and won't be back until Sunday. It probably won't be until the following weekend before it is up and running.

Beautiful, Geoff! Is it

Beautiful, Geoff!

Is it coming along with you to MFKR? I'll make a sampler packet of fibers for you to try at the retreat.

Congratulations,

ETA - Which Kundera work is your quote from?

I don't think that I'll be

I don't think that I'll be bringing the spinning wheel to MFKR. I think it will be a pain to cart it around as it's not meant to be a traveling wheel. As for the Kundera quote, I have no idea. I can't even remember where I found it.

That looks very nice, I say

That looks very nice, I say if it looks pretty and it's useful then why not?!! I've been getting more and more curious about spinning...I dont know how it works or anything...but would love to learn...when I come back stateside, that might be something to invest taking a class or something :-).

All you really have to tell

All you really have to tell him... "It's an investment. You can sell it when I die. I call it your inheritance!!!" ;)

Mine came up with that for my growing yarn stash. Now, I find that as a perfect excuse to buy something fiber related.
