First up is the popular Hemlock Ring Blanket adapted by Jared Flood. I LOVED this project from the moment I cast on to the removal of the last blocking pin. I used Wool of the Andes Bulky by Knit Picks in the color, "Masala". I casted on with size US7 DPN's using TechKnitter's circular cast on. I thought Emily Ocker's cast on was a bit too bulky with this wool weight. I increased needle sizes every couple of rows until I reached a US10 which I used for the remainder of the project. The finished blanket blocked out to 52.5" in diameter and I blocked it pretty firmly. The yarn has a nice drape and is surprisingly soft for being Peruvian Highland wool. The color bled quite a lot, so I rinsed it twice with a quarter cup of white vinegar and a couple of tablespoons of kosher salt dissolved into the final rinse to set the color--which is an awesome, rich, russet orange. You can read more details on my Ravelry projects page (username: Millard) and I include a couple of tips on working the bind off. If you aren't on Ravelry, please feel free to pm me with any questions. I hope everyone had a great weekend!
