Here's a sweater design for men by Vivian Westwood.
...I don't think I'm going to be knitting this anytime soon...
The model isn't so bad, though it might take me several weeks to erase the memory of the ensemble from my mind... But think of the bright side - if you were starving in the wilderness, all you'd have to do is swim with that thing and you might snag half the fish in the lake.
Have to admit, that's bloody ugly, by any standards. On the plus side, you could probably use it to catch fish in a survival situation.
I'm just curious as to how the conductors at the fashion show would drape such a monstrosity on such beauty as that.
My compliments to the hatter.
it's the designers choice....
That poor lad.
I certainly hope they paid him well.
nes reports are that salaries for male models were down about 40% in Milan the latest fashion week.
Still more tasteful than my crochet skills.
the scary thing is that you know Westwood didn't do just one of these....there would be variations of colours and forms. I've been trying to find what year she showed this...
What a waste of a nice-looking model!
It is hairpin crochet - at its ugliest. And the hat isn't so hot either. Another travesty inspired by the myth of the West as put forth in romances and bad films. You know: If it is about cowboys, it has to be sexy. -- Books, knitting, cats, fountain pens...Life is Good.
Wonder if the pattern would include instructions to make the red felt cowboy hat.
I'm trying to think of an appropriate occasion to wear it - maybe at my debut as a bag lady.
The article of clothing and all your comments really cheered me up this morning.
Trying to be positive--I don't think it would take very long to make and think of all the scraps of wool you coud use up ;-)
That's not a sweater - it's a really fugly bad doily with sleeves.
Looks like he got drunk and fell through his curtains.
You know, it could be worse.....
He could be wearing a loud print flowered shirt under that thing. Hey, they didn't even wear anything like that in Brokeback mountain. :-)
It looks a lot like the macrame plant hangers that my mom used to have.
I'd be afraid to wear it, afraid it would catch on everything. It is ugly but might improve if he wore it with no shirt under it. Yes, do like the hat.
oh. my. god.
It is crochet, Broomstick and hair pin as Fuzzed said, and yes it is ugly..................
actually, I think he might be a member of the red hat society. (the sweater is the dead giveaway.)
other than all the obvious horror... what's up with that right shoulder? :P

it may be a combination of crochet and knit, but nothing that the fashion industry has to worry about. Not everyone can design for men
Of COURSE you're not going to be knitting it any time soon. That's because it's crocheted. :) It looks like it's a meld of hairpin lace and broomstick lace. Can any experienced crocheters confirm or refute?
In any case it's gross. Uglier than some of the stuff from the 70s.
what is that?
OMG! My eyes, MY EYES! What in gay hell?
This isn't what we would wear in gay hell... :)
but you have to love the hat!!!
