Howdy Boys! (and the few Girls on here too!)
Just wanted to post an update as I havn't updated in a while! I've finished my boxers for the KAL! I'm happy to say that they came out uber cute, but I'm a little disappointed in how long they got after I blocked them.
I'm a total newbie to blocking things to a specific size (everything that I have needed to block so far have been scarves and wraps that really don't require it to be a specific size). The moment the boxers hit the water, it's like the stitches relaxed and stretched their legs... now they're about 4 inches longer than I intended them to be! The guage of my knitting changed too, instead of the 6.5 stitches per inch, I'm getting about 5 stitches per inch. Should I have soaked and blocked my swatch before I measured? Should I have steam blocked instead? - If I did steamblock, how do you wash knitting without it getting all huge - I didn't stretch at all I just laid everything flat. Can anyone recommend a good resource for the ins and outs of blocking?
This project has me a little scared of attempting the sweaters I have in my queue- especially with my last sweater debacle already hanging over my head! (The reason why I hate lion brand homespun!)
Blocking blunders aside, I'm still very happy with the way they turned out. Pictures below - sorry they're blurry, I'm in desperate need of a new camera, and all I have is my iPhone right now! Oh, and yes, I also finally chose a profile picture. Still hate it, but oh well. At least I'm recognizable now!
