A Scarf for Miss Lisa

scottly's picture

This is a client piece and what fun it was. Miss Lisa special ordered the linen from Claudia Hand Painted Yarns and it wasn't cheap. But she wanted what she wanted and I admire her for it. Working with linen is no great shakes - kind of like working with packing string. My fingers are raw. But I know it will become more and more luscious and soft the more Lisa washes and wears it. The color is a "fall into and die turquoise". It's one of those colors that looks like there has been a hole torn in the fabric of the universe. Anyway here it is. As it's being blocked, I'll try to get a piture of her wearing it and post it later.

That's excellent Scott.

That's excellent Scott. You're right about that color being amazing. It looks like the bottom of a deep blue pool or something. (your metaphor of the fabric of the universe is far superior though) :-)

It's Lace Ribbon Scarf by Veronik Avery. I've made it before and I really like it. This one came out a whopping 95" long but Lisa said it couldn't be too long. I just pulled it up and it really is beautiful but the linen needs to be washed every week for a while until it softens up.

It just took some getting use to but it is really hard on the hands. I was talking to my LYS lady Brook the other day and she was telling that linen is supposed to make great socks. I'm going to have to try it.

Gee, that is really beautiful. Nor do I like working with linen. However, as you say it improves with wear and the colour is smashing. Great work. I bet she is pleased.
