Purple teddy bear

I made one of these for my neice, and another one (in variegated lavender) for her brother.  It's gotten "very well loved" in that Velveteen Rabbit sort of way - kind of rougher around the edges now, although it's holding together!

nope - I knit her other stuff - I got pre-empted on the teddy bear by another uncle.

you should see *my* niece's

you should see *my* niece's -- which will be moving to Japan with her and her husband this fall. It's so "real" it should get a passport.

its always nice to see proof a gift is loved.

It's really sweet - it's

It's really sweet - it's apparently become THE Teddy Bear without which naps, trips, and a good night's sleep are impossible.  Mom said that all the pilling and schmutz on it is from the fact that she sits and "pets" it by rubbing her thumb and fingers against it.

I've been told that I should probably knit a back-up bear just in case this one gets "loved to death."

How cool that you did one too - what pattern did you use?  Mine's the "Oscar" from "Knitted Teddy Bears," by Sandra Polley.
