Help Needed with Karabella Leaf Lace Pattern

Marisol's picture

Hello,

I was wondering if any of you have knitted up the Karabella Lace Leaf Shawl.  I am having diffuculties starting with row 43 of the pattern and wanted to know if someone could extend some help.

I really do like the way the pattern knits up and would like to complete it.

Please help,

Marisol

Thanks Mario and Mike for

Thanks Mario and Mike for responding to my shout out fo help.

I thought I would post just one more row as Mike asked just in case this helps...

Row 39: k1, yo, ssk, k3, yo, k4, yo, k1, yo, k4, yo, k3, ktog, sk2p, ssk, k3, yo, k4, yo, k1, yo, k4, yo, k3, k2tog, yo, k1

Row 41: k1, yo, *k1, yo, ssk, k3, yo, ssk, k7, k2tog, yo, k3, k2tog, yo* rep from *to* once more,  k1, yo, k1

Row 43: k2, yo, *k1, yo, k1, ssk, k3, yo, ssk, k5, k2tog, yo, k3, k2tog, yo, * rep from *to* once more, k1, yo, k2

Row 45: k3, yo, *k1, yo, k2, ssk, k3, yo, ssk, k3, k2tog, yo, k3, k2tog, k2, yo * rep from *to* once more, k1, yo, k3

If after looking at this either of you need more info... or this reveals something else let me know.

Meanwhile, I will be ripping back row 43 and re-knitting it with the k2tog fix Mario suggested to see if that fixes it.

 Thanks again,

Marisol

recounting it looks like row

recounting it looks like row 43 may be:

Row 43: k2, yo, *k1, yo, k1, ssk, k3, yo, ssk, k5, k2tog, yo, k3, k2tog,k1,yo, * rep from *to* once more, k1, yo, k2

sorry I didn't spot that before.

I'm guessing that every

I'm guessing that every other row is a purl row, right?  So, if 43 is a pattern row if you could carefully type out row 41, 43, and 45 p'raps I can help.  I need to see what you were supposed to do on 42 to see what you're looking at on the beginning of 43.

I'll keep checking in to see your answer OR, if you'd like, send me a private message with the directions and I'll send you a reply.  Very pretty shawl!

Thank you all so much.  I

Thank you all so much.  I am new here and will be getting to know all you soon enough.  I definetely want to see all the beautiful hand knits from the group and will be dedicating the time....

Wow this is really exciting to see--a really talented group of Male knitters.  I've been so involved with my regular women blogland friends --that I had no idea you were all out there.  Meanwhile,  I will be posting a reply to Mario who was so kind to offer to help me out in my moment of needLaughing

Marisel - you posted out on

Marisel - you posted out on my msn page about this - as I have a "karebella leaf shawl' posted there. (I can't get there to answer you at the moment.) However - that is a completly different pattern - one I did on the fly.

You can find a photo of the Karabella pattern for the 'leaf lace shawl' at:

If you would care to post the pattern row before row 43 and row 43 we might be able to figure out where you got messed up. (That would be row 41 if the return row is non-patterned or row 42 if the return row is patterned)

Hi Mario, Thanks you so

Hi Mario,

Thanks you so much for taking time out of your proabably busy schedule to help out a fellow lace knitter.   Here are the details of the rows:

Row 39: k1, yo, ssk, k3, yo, k4, yo, k1, yo, k4, yo, k3, ktog, sk2p, ssk, k3, yo, k4, yo, k1, yo, k4, yo, k3, k2tog, yo, k1

Row 41: k1, yo, *k1, yo, ssk, k3, yo, ssk, k7, k2tog, yo, k3, k2tog, yo* rep from *to* once more,  k1, yo, k1

Row 43: k2, yo, *k1, yo, k1, ssk, k3, yo, ssk, k5, k2tog, yo, k3, k1, yo, * rep from *to* once more, k1, yo, k2

All even rows are free as you pearl back.

I am fine with the number of stitches up unitl I get to row 43 where I some how end up with 2-5 extra stitches I think...  I tried fixing it myself but it doesn't look good.  my work looks perfect on the right by it has some extra holes on the left leaf... you will see from my pictures on my blog: http://www.purlsjustwannahavefun.typepad.com/

Thanks in advance, Mario

I'm not positive, but I

I'm not positive, but I believe:

Row 43: k2, yo, *k1, yo, k1, ssk, k3, yo, ssk, k5, k2tog, yo, k3, k1, yo, * rep from *to* once more, k1, yo, k2

should read:

Row 43: k2, yo, *k1, yo, k1, ssk, k3, yo, ssk, k5, k2tog, yo, k3, k2tog, yo, * rep from *to* once more, k1, yo, k2

you should have 51 stitches after row 42. (if you have more you've slipped in an extra yo somewhere)

But as written 43 uses only 49 - I think the correction I made is where things mess up.
