I started the Hemlock Ring Blanket that was re-envisioned by Jared Flood. I've never knitted an afghan before (always crocheted 'em), but this is a fun knit. I can't seem to put it down! I'm working on the charted portion of the feather and fan lace. The yarn is Peruvian Highland wool in burnt umber. I'm not a good photographer, so it came out construction orange in the photos, but the actual color is a rich rust color. I'm using US 10 circulars, but worked the first several rounds with US 7 double points (thanks to Mario for that wonderful tip) before moving up sizes. I used the TechKnitter's circular beginning cast on as opposed to Emily Ocker's crocheted one. The latter left bulky, loose stitches. With TK's version you basically do a figure 8 provisional cast on using the ball end of yarn on a looped circle made from the tail-end of the yarn. You pull the circle closed once you've distributed the stitches on the needles giving you a nice, neat beginning.
