Variations on a theme

MMario's picture

I took a wee basic lace pattern and played with it a bit....

it ended up as fifty patterns; 10 variations; each in 5 shapes.

There are a couple more I could have included easily without increasing the size of the basic pattern.

But I figured fifty was good enough to show the process.

This is part of my "Basic Starches" group of patterns - so called because I've been working up variations on simple patterns. In particular it's the "Potato" grouping....

Why is Mario so damn

Why is Mario so damn talented?

This (as most of my patterns) is just plugging part 'A" into tab "B"; not so much talent as pig-headed stubborness; as I **WILL** find a way to make that square peg fit the trangular hole. (you just need the correct sizes of pegs and holes.

After all the lace knitting

After all the lace knitting I've done, I would think I could visualize the results of your graphics a bit better, but alas, I will have to take up needles and yarn to try out a few of these.

Thanks as always for your generosity MMario!

They are all variants on a diamond mesh formed of a double row of eyelets.

With different treatments for the centers of the diamonds, ranging from nothing; to a centered eyelet; to reverse stocking stitch; 1 x 1 rib; a square of purled stitches; and various small eyelet designs in the centers of the diamond.

hmmmm - I should do a potato salad with multiples of the centers....

*grin* but that will require larger charts!

The tip up variety will work

The tip up variety will work up the fastest; but I think the double down is the best proportioned.
