So, this summer I whipped up a scarf. Fancy that. I deisgned the rudimentary pattern. There is more info on my blog... except Blogger just ate my post. So there WILL be more info there.
I finally get two days off in a row. It is about time...
This means I am going to get some long over due knitting in... I hope to knit for at least 4 hours each day.
Which is good since it is getting close to christmas and it is time to start working on christmas gifts for family....
well I am off to knit everyone have a good weekend.
First, my sincerest appologies to all you guys for avoiding this site for awhile. I feel very close to alot of you and it has been unfair for me not to respond to your emails and PMs. I'm ashamed of myself.
Next, since there are far to many of you to write the same thing to and since it's public knowledge here in Dallas it might as well be around the world.
As many of you know my Grandmother passed in July and again I thank you for all you condolances and kind words. However, two days after I got back from that horrid, horrid experience Jim told me he was leaving me after 6 1/2 years of what I never suspected was a relationship gone sour. That brick hit an already bruised head from behind. If I had seen it coming towards me it would have been easier to take.
It has been to long since writting here... and it is not because I have forgotten the page... It is just that i have gone back to work after vaction... Which has been pure hell and long hours.... I have had one day off since the 5th of sept. and have work 9 hour days except for the 12 hour shifts which there was four of them....
The good thing that comes out of this is the money... However I have only knit two dish clothes in the last two weeks... Which sucks.. I use to knit at least three a when I was working... but work has been to much and has drained me.... To the point where most days I do not want to knit when I get home...
Getting holiday projects ready, a friend of mine wants a cap like Muslim men wear. It's not really just a short ski cap-- and wonder if anyone has come across such a pattern. Please let me know.
Well, I am pretty new to this group and I havn't posted anything. Here it goes. I havn't been knitting very long (total 16 months) and up until now I have only knitted small items. Because I am temporarily living in Japan, my projects must stay small (yarn costs about 2 times as much)
Well, I finally broke down and bought enough yarn to do a sweater. It is not a terribly original design (see scull sweater in Stitch & Bitch book) but I like it. Wish me luck...
The cranberry coloured laceweight wool is from Bendigo Woollen Mills, if you email them they will snail mail you their shade card with samples of all their yarns.
One of the great aspects of knitting for me is the buying of yarn. The internet has become a shop window on the world in this respect.
Here in Australia we produce great wool, but fall down on the value added component. Much of the clip is sent overseas for other countries to spin, to colour, to make it wonderful. We have some local mills, but I don't find myself as excited by their offerings as I am by many overseas spinners/dyers.
The attached photo is a very small part of my stash that I want to share with fellow MWK. The cranberry cone is Australian laceweight wool, the blue is Brown Sheep Cotton Fine for a T-shirt for me, the multi-coloured skein is Blue Moon Socks That Rock shade Fluorite, and my latest acquisition is Jaggerspun Zephyr laceweight silk/merino 50/50, shade is cassis.
