Lana Grossa's Filati Men's #5

Evelyn from Knitty Noddy (http://www.knitty-noddy.com/) informed me via email yesterday that the Filati Men's #5 pattern book is due in any day now - it has arrived at the distributor and they were getting it in the mail to her. She writes "personally I like the looks of Filati Men #5 better (and it's not just the models, the patterns look better too :-P )." She now has up on her website her collection of men's pattern books at http://www.knitty-noddy.com/index.php?page=shop.browse&root=4867bd5b1e17df5d876a27c961e9dcc9&category_id=5cb28ee2559aa352e7c1e02e7c4c97ab&option=com_phpshop
She writes "Hopefully this will make it easier to locate these issues, don't have to paw through a bunch of girl stuff!"

She really is great to work with, and will look around for something she doesn't stock and is happy to special order.

I have no connections to her business - just a happy customer!

Off to Oklahoma City this weekend (if the airports are still open due to the storm), where I hope to meet up with OKKnitguy and have a tour of Oklahoma City's wild, wooly fiber scene and knit quietly by my parent's fireside and be lavished with homecooked food.

well, today has just been kay-rap!

not scottish at all (therefore ...).

Walked out of the house this morning without knitting bag -- realized that about 1/2 way to work.

finishing up an exhange item for another list that *must* go into the mail today - a crocheted item, and somehow managed to lose the crochet hook with 5 stitches left to go.

Lost a detailed post to my music forum TWICE while trying to post it.

and to top off everything - my neice has officially moved to Japan (they landed in Tokyo this morning).

Hope my mood changes soon because I have to celebrate christmas something like 12 more times before the day actually occurs - and right now I am feeling very Scrooge-ish.

Hi Everybody!

Hello all,

Just thought I'd quit lurking and say hello. I've recently taken up knitting (again!) but still haven't done anything more complicated than a baby blanket or two, and a few hats. I dream of the day I will have enough skill to do a sweater and enough stamina to do an afghan, but for now I'm working on my first sock. I'm glad to have found the group and look forward to learning what I can from the various interactions.

Kitting Partners...anyone?

I am looking for individuals who would like to be "knittng partners". This idea comes from a blog I read , a person who met others online, to send patterns, yarn samples, there favorite knit-knacks to. Penpalls of a sort with passion for knitting. I would love to start this with all sorts of members all over the world, so lets see were this goes. Any takers?

Nasty day, nasty tummy, funky green hat!

NEVER EAT UNDERCOOKED TURKEY! I am here to testify. I have lost any weight I might have gained at Thanksgiving, to be sure. YUK! That being said, it was nasty wet and rainy in the Rose City. I walked outside and though, "Why don't I have a fun and funky hat?" I went to the Sippery at the Yarn Garden and dug out my "should be knitting" project, but my heart just wasn't in it. I wanted cheery, I wanted GREEN! Lambs Pride worsted Kiwi Green and a Fibertrends pattern ("Everyone's favorite hat and scarf"). Easy peasy and I cranked away on it, knitting up the the decrease in about 2 hours. The the coffee shop closed and I went to Powell's city of books to finish it in "the world cup". It's done, it's warm and lovely, but I have to pick out the edge and knit it just a trifle bit longer. I like hats that the edge flips up on, and this is just a TRIFLE short for that. (where the instructions say knit the side to 5 1/2, I recommend knitting it to 6 or 6 1/2, then start the decreasing. VERY fast knit, and a super cool hat, the pattern comes with directions for worsted through v. bulky (which must take half and hour to knit). Pix to follow. I think my family will be each be gettin

BALLS! BULLOCKS!............................

I checked out the book "Knitting with Balls" and it's better than I expected, although perhaps a little too heavy on the accessories. (What happens when a knitted wallet gets wet? Or a knitted laptop cover?) Still, it is clearly written and there is a sweater pattern or two that I think are quite good. More power to the author. He beat me to the punch. Now mind you, I didn't buy it... but it does seem to be selling well. Portland is very hot in the knitting department right now. Powell's book store has an entire aisle of books on knitting and patterns. Who'd have thunk it?

I've missed being around!

Wow, it feels like it's been forever since I've been on the site. What little spare time I've had, I've spent knitting. If I don't get to knit at least some each day, I get very grumpy! The flip side is that I've missed you guys and staying on top of what everyone's doing.

I finally finished David's clogs - he got them a month late. I've also finished my first sweater and pair of socks. No pictures of them yet, but I will post them once I get some taken.

I now have going my first sweater done in the round -- no seams, yeah! For the sleeves, I'm using the magic loop method for the first time instead of DPNs. I think I like DPNs better, but with the Knit Pick options needles and cables, it just made sense to try magic loop first and it's going well. I also have my second pair of socks going and I'm about to finish a baby cuddle toy for my niece. For Christmas, I'm going to try really hard to restart and finish the Orangutan to give my nephew and get a stocking cap knit for my brother.

Panna Cotta with Cranberry Cabernet Sauce

Wine: Gewertztraminer

And you know... I attach a pic of the little devil so y'all can take a gander at him.. warning.. he's cute!

Best to you all!
