Naughty Chap!!

Hi everyone! Long time no chat! Apologies for not having submitted anything for a long time...I visit all the time and it's great to see everyone busy as ever! Well, there has been STEAM coming off my D.P's lately...I found a really cute pattern for wristwarmers ( 'fetching' at 'knitty'), and have been powering through several pairs, some of which will be winging their way to New Jersey for a girlfriends birthday next week! I would highly recommend them as a quick, last minute gift...and the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran is knitted on a needle-size down...they have a beautiful feel and are a pleasure to make! Of course there are also socks on the go; MORE Koigu in stunning purples/burnt oranges! STILL haven't found a sweater pattern I like yet...I would like something quite fitted with a retro feel and v-neck...yep! I'm not asking for much, am I?!!! So, if anyone has an idea...Take care, everyone! Ivan

Too Good?

I saw mention of an online yarn shop the other day - looked into it and the prices seemed really good. I mean *really* good.

So I just ordered some yarn. I had SHIPPING confirmation 15 minutes after ordering. And WITH shipping the five pounds of yarn is only $105.

(it works out to about 1/2 cent per yard)

Makes me wonder....am I dreaming? will let you know how things look after I get the yarn.

My First Sock Is Taking Shape

I seriously didn't think I would be able to do a sock, but it's actually starting to take shape and that shape is definitely that of a sock.

I only made it with a 4 inch top because I don't have enough yarn to do taller ones. But that's ok, I prefer shorter socks anyway.

Today I make the heel flap and turned the heel. I wasn't sure if I could do the heel turn, but I just followed the instructions and sure enough I had a turned heel! Woohoo!

I'm now working on shaping the gusset. I did make one mistake. I knitted one round as instructed, and then did a decrease round. I was supposed to do another knitted round before doing another decrease round, but I forgot and did another decrease round instead. Oops. I'm hoping it won't mess it up too badly.

Pink Scarf

Here is my third scarf-- I learned how to make fringe and now I want to put it on everything! I think I'm ready to graduate into some real production work and am thinking about a child's sweater because it will work up faster than an adult's size with less investment in materials. Any thoughts?

Working on my 1st glove

Hey guys! This is my 1st post, and what better way to start my 1st post than with a picture of my 1st glove? I started it yesterday evening. As you can see from the pic, the cuff, palm, and part of the thumb are finished. It's going amazingly well.

powerlessness

I admit to being powerless to resist yarn. I just bopped into my LYS to pick up a skein of something soft in bulkyweight and natural grey brown to repair a Canadian First Nation's sweater (some coastal tribe, I've forgotten the name) and to my HORROR: Yarn sale! She isn't going to carry some of my favorite mohair anymore: Plymouth Outback Mohair....fabulous, and CHEAP AND NOW.....40% OFF! I almost got into a grabbing match with some cow who DARED STAND BETWEEN ME AND A YARN! I bought enough for 2 sweaters for $45. I also bought some interesting textured yarn that I had used in the hat and scarf set for my sister in law. I got off easy: under $100. It is official. I have no self control. Last night I finished a scarf, and prepared yardage for Mom's "Kaffe Fassett Small squares sweater"... should I send her something to tide her and Dad over in the meantime? They didn't yet get a Christmas present....I feel guilty. Bad son, bad son...

thanks all

I decided to send something that felt fabulous, and wait on the interesting pattern scarf. This is what I sent:

Peruvian Tweed 100% alpaca. (660yds @$27....quite the value)
cast on 90 stitches, k10, p10, follow pattern as presented until you run out of yarn.

It creates this wonderful accordion like fabric that spreads out horizontally to a hood or shoulder shawl, or hanging vertically, collapses down to a scarf. It's soft, wonderful, and I already had it made.

Thanks to all that sent patterns. I look forward to trying them.
Maybe with my hat a day knitting plan, I should do a scarf a week....just as soon as I finish the sweater repairs on my desk and finish the sweaters for Mom and Dad.
