Ok, ok - I've been enjoying all your handiworks and thought I'd post a few of my recently completed stuff.
This scarf was a holiday gift for my piano teacher. It doubles as a 'get out of recital free' pass!
I used up some cool bits of my stash - some Manos, a little cashmere, some vintage satin ribbon that faded in the shop window, and some cheap novelty yarn I stumbled across at Tuesday morning.
Cast on longways using 36" size 17 circs, knit flat, plain stockinette stitch.
The only thing I don't really like about this method is that the bindoff side tends to curve a little, even with great care to bindoff loosely.
The above pic is without flash, and shows the colors more truly. The attached one shows more of the detail.
I started the felted messenger bag from knitty.com:
and I'm nearly through with the body of it - I just realized last night (in a sweat and panic) that I was supposed to use TWO strands of yarn together - I used only ONE - (the gauge swatch that I didn't do said that gauge was determined using size 13 needles, and two strands of yarn held together) - but the directions just said "cast on 52 stitches" (or something like that) - boo - I was wondering what you guys thought - do you think it'll still turn out like a messenger bag or not? Opinions?
I am going to finish it either way (using just single strand like I have been) - and I'll let you know what it looks like. I'll probably use 2 strands together for the strap to make it more stable...
I'm curious, and frustrated at the same time - I plan to modify this pattern some and make more of these, so it's not a total loss...
Here is a pic of my first project. Not the greatest, but I learned quite a bit and I am anxious to keep going.
Second cable attempt - a bit more ambitious then the Irish hiking scarf.
n the navy sweater I knitted for my grandson.
it's a wool/cotton blend.

Here is the size US 19 needle
I knit a lot of scarves with multiple yarns...often five strands...and I'm always bothered by the difference between the cable and needle sizes..
I've used the large size AddiTurbos...but prefer the warmth of wood or bamboo...
...so I made some!
These are turned of Rosewood and Kingwood...with brass fittings.
The odd things inside the vinyl cable are Swarofski crystals... just for fun... they roll around when I knit...
One can never have too much Glitz!!!
They are US17 and US19
Test hanks from Rohrspatz & Wollmeise
Got bored yesterday, so I took out the mini test hanks to play with. :-p
I am trying to learn how to felt. I want to try wet felting, not knit felting (though I may do that one later), and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with it. If so, I would like to hear from you. Let me know if you have any tips on how to do it well, what tools to use, and where to buy what I need.
I experimented today with a small piece of roving by just rubbing it in the palm of my hand and it worked. I need more info though. Thanks, Scott
