I've had trouble posting here so I apologize for skipping right to the (almost) finished project.
I was feeling irritable and stubborn and yet somehow two rows into another pair of mittens has nudged my stress to the side. I still feel it and still feel worn but somehow it's better with something to do. Something simple, quiet and engaging.
A friend from www.livejournal.com posted a note about "Super Knit Sunday" tied to DIY/WUA and Warm Up America for this Sunday's game. Here's the links she left if anyone here's interested:
As for the sundry business I've made the 'Medallion Mittens' from the Knitting With Balls book. I loves them. So does the whole cast it seems... Thinking about taking orders. Never thought to sell my projects! Used SuperMerino in dark grey on US 5 double points. Also my first time knitting in the round! Woo!
Also working a garter stitch blankie for my niece's dolls in Lion Brand suede. Never did like working the stuff but it's pretty.
Pictures when I find the camera!
Thank you Bill for tuning me into this site!
I finished my first simple cotton washcloth after who knows how many scarves... Hoping to create a pattern to make a bunch of so I can replace my current tattered ones.
This one I learned from a lady at a yarn shop. Jotted it down on an envelope and tried to make it work... not perfect on my first attempt but I like it.
Basic wash/dish-cloth on the bias:
* Cast-on 4, knit 2-3 rows
* At 4th row, K3, YO, K1
* Continue doing YO at second to last stitch until you get to 39 stitches.
* K2, K2 together, YO, K2 together, K to end
* At 4 stitches remaining, cast off
And yes, the lace-ish border is different on half.
-- EDIT --
I forgot to mention: US 10.5 with "Peaches & Creme" 4-ply cotton was recommended though I did mine on US 6 needles
